Robert A. Cohen

Robert A. Cohen’s practice is focused on business, tax and estate issues, especially for clients with closely held or family-owned businesses.

Bob counsels business owners and company executives on matters relating to business planning and exit strategies, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state tax planning and controversies, and estate planning and administration. He frequently partners with Riley Riper colleagues to help structure business acquisition transactions and real estate projects for the firm’s clients.

Bob draws upon his extensive legal experience and his background as a CPA and corporate controller to develop and deliver practical solutions that address clients’ legal, tax, transactional and estate planning needs. He recently helped a family in a complex estate planning and trust administration matter that encompassed a special needs/guardianship element; developed an estate plan for the CEO of a major retailer; crafted tax planning, partnership agreements and transactional documentation for a corporate client; and served as counsel to an estate executor and trustee in a complex Orphan’s Court case.

Dedicated to a proactive approach that keeps his client’s goals and objectives at the forefront, Bob combines hands-on responsive service with his deep knowledge of finance and the latest changes in tax codes. His solutions have helped Riley Riper clients save millions of dollars in taxes.

In addition to being admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania state courts, Bob is also admitted to practice in the Federal Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Tax Court.

Bob earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law. He completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University’s Fox School of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is active in numerous professional and civic organizations in southeastern Pennsylvania and Chester County.
